Earth Day 2011

It's Earth Day! Are you stopping by Starbucks today for your free coffee? Or do you have other great plans?
I remember for Arbor day in elementary school we were given a tree to plant. There are still 2 of my trees growing back in Texas from other Arbor day celebrations.

Here are a few of my favorite Etsy finds in honor of Earth Day:

And on sale too!

Halloween

Can you believe it's already October?! This year has just blown by!

It's almost time to start worrying about Holiday shopping but first, it's almost time for halloween. There are a few halloween items in shop that I wanted to feature today.

These are adorable key fobs that are so useful. They are great for college students and teachers. You always need your dorm/classroom/mailbox key but you don't want to worry about these things while you are on the run. Just throw the keys you need on the ring and slip the fob around your wrist and your hands are totally free for the million other things you have to do.

It's September!

Wow can you believe it's really September?! Hasn't this year just flown by?

This summer was a busy one for me. Thus resulting in few updates to MeghanDesigns. This is something I must remedy for both myself and my loyal customers. I know everyone is looking for the newest items and I am eager to get back to the sewing machine. Before we start looking forward, let me show you some of my favorite summer pics.

I recommend everyone who lives in LA or is planning to visit LA to check out the LA Conservancy tours. When my sister came to town in June, we participated in the Downtown Art Deco walk. This was a blast and I am eager to check out their other walking tours and events. Downtown LA is a fascinating place and I encourage all my fellow Angelenos to take some time and explore it. Here are some of my favorite photos:

Edison Ceiling

Oviatt Building

A day was also spent at the X-Games. This was easily one of the most exciting events of the summer

And here are a few more photos from other exciting experiences around this fine city.
Griffith Observatory

Griffith Observatory Sunset

Now with summer over, it's time to gear up for the holiday season. It is my hope that this will include many new products, sales, and a brand new website.... meghandesigns.com, anyone? :)

Road Trip & Aprons

Anyone who has drove from Texas to California knows how tedious a drive it is. As this was my second trip in less than a year, I definitely needed some excitement during the journey. Not only did we stop at the Grand Canyon, we stopped in Oatman, AZ. This little tourist town is like stepping into the twilight zone. Not only is it straight out of the Wild West days, wild burros walk around town begging for hand outs from tourists. Apparently there is a shootout twice a day, but we didn't see it. Bummer.

My apron order was finally completed and here are a few of my favorite ones. Expect these in shop soon!

Aprons and Dresses, and Travel... oh my!

FYI, The shop will be closed from Wednesday May 19th through Saturday May 29th for vacation. Be sure to make all orders before this time!

So this week is going to be a race to get everything I need to get done, done. Here's a glimpse at my current projects:

Last month, I got a request for aprons from a customer. She was opening a new shop in her hometown and wanted her employees to rock awesome Meghan Designs aprons. I made several aprons for her and it turned out to be a HUGE success. We are currently working on another set of aprons.

My sister, (check out her etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/AtelierLambert) mailed me some fabric for two dresses she wanted made. Hopefully this will prove to be great practice for my new etsy shop I am hoping to open within the next few months: Florence Rose. This shop will be chalk full of beachy dresses, tunics, and swimsuit cover ups inspired by the SoCal beaches and sun. And don't worry, you guys will be the first to know when we open!

I just popped in one of my favorite movies of all time, My Best Friend's Wedding. Time to get back to work cutting lots of fabric!
